  • Cello: 24 packs per box, 31 cards plus one stick of bubble gum per pack (MSRP: $0.69). 16 boxes per case.

  • Racks: 24 pack per box, 49 cards per pack. Six boxes per case.

  • Jumbos: 101 cards plus one stick of gum per pack

The 1988 Topps Baseball set consists of 792 cards. One of my favorite looking sets from the 80's. It was produced in the junk wax era, so overall the set has almost no value.

78-84 (Pythagorean 78-84)

6th in the AL East

The Tribe would start off the season 36-22, but would stumble as the summer wore on. In retrospect there was reason to be optimistic: Charles Nagy was drafted in June, and Joey Belle was in his first full season of minor league ball.

  • Julio Franco was one of the teams best hitters (.303/.361/.409), but the 29 year old would be traded in December for being too immature and a bad influence on the clubhouse.

  • Joe Carter had another strong year, with 27 HR and a .792 OPS.

  • Corey Snyder also was fantastic, with 26 HR and a .810 OPS.

  • Ron Kittle, signed as a FA, hit 18 HR in only 254 at-bats.

  • Doug Jones shattered the clubs previous record of saves (23) with 37.

  • Clubs ERA was 4.16, a huge improvement of its 5.28 ERA in 1987.
